What is Reflexology

Reflexology is an art and science based on the principal that there are reflexes, “trigger points,” in the feet, hands and ears. The feet, hands and ears are microcosm /mirrored images of the entire body (all glands, organs, muscles and joints).

By applying pressure on these reflexes, a Reflexologist will stimulate the corresponding body parts to promote healing and bring the body back into homeostasis/balance.

Benefits of Reflexology:

  • Improve Circulation
  • Reduce Tension & Stress
  • Promote Relaxation

Safe and non-invasive therapy for restoring and balancing the body.

Many clients have experienced the following:

  • Reduced chronic pain
  • Detoxifying the body
  • Relieve women’s menopause symptoms
  • Relief of arthritic symptoms

Reflexology can benefit people of all ages and, depending on the length of time a condition has been present, can improve or eliminate many ailments during a course of four to six weekly treatments.

Can a Reflexologist Diagnose illnesses?
No, a Reflexologist does not diagnose, treat specific conditions or prescribe medications. Reflexology is a Complimentary Medicine that can be combined with both Western and Alternative Medicine. Research has shown that 75% of health issues are linked to stress, thus, reflexology can assist with eliminating the levels of stress and tension in one’s life.

Is Reflexology Massage Therapy?
Reflexology is not massage. Massage is the palpitation of soft tissue and muscles, whereas Reflexology is the stimulation of nerve pathways. There are 7200 nerve endings in each foot which are connected to the peripheral nerves system (the main communication systems of the body, communicating through electrical impulses carrying information back and forth from the body to the brain for processing).

Who Can Receive Reflexology?
Anyone from the very young to the very elderly can receive reflexology. The exceptions are: Contagious foot conditions and infectious disease. Consult with the Reflexologist.

“Your feet walk upon the earth and through this your spirit is connected to the universe. Our feet are our contact with the Earth and the energies that flow through it.” –  Jenny Wallace
